Parvathy Omanakuttan, a Keralite settled in Mumbai, was crowned Navy Queen 2006 at a contest held at the Southern Naval Command on Saturday night in connection with the annual Navy Ball.

She also won the `Most Beautiful Hair' and `Most Beautiful Outfit' titles. Rhea Sajan, daughter of a Naval officer, and Dipitha Shayam were adjudged the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively.

Trishna Devraj bagged the `Most Beautiful Eyes' title while Niel Johnson walked away the title for the `Most Beautiful Smile.' Vice-Admiral Jagjit Singh Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Command, inaugurated the celebrations.

He led the coronation dance with the newly crowned Navy Queen. His colleagues, Rear Admiral Rajender Singh, Chief of Staff of the Command and Rear Admiral M.P. Muralidharan, Flag Officer Sea Training, danced with the runners-up. The Naval Officers too stepped on to the dance floor with their spouses.

Among the participants were two doctors, students of engineering, an aspiring air-hostess and a model-cum-fashion designer.

Contestant came up with routine answers such as "A positive attitude counts much," "Give the world your best," "I am straight forward and witty and have traditional views on marriage."

"I am a shy person, but I want to change and so joined the contest," said another one of them. One of the two participants from St. Teresa's College, Kochi, lashed out against hypocrites. "I want to open a special school where children will be taught survival skills. I will also open a chocolate shop," and "Be optimistic and have faith in God," said the others. The event was hosted by Alyy Khan and Sandhya Mridul. Thematic dances were performed by singer-performer Manasi Scott and troupe. A leading band, `Blue on Ice,' from Bangalore and live karaoke by DJ Clement from Mumbai were the highlights of the event. The Navy Ball and Navy Queen Contest marked the culmination of the Navy Week celebrations.
