Bidar: Timely action by the police prevented tension in Byalahalli village in Bhalki taluk where an incident of an "insult" to an Ambdekar statue came to light on Monday. Early morning, some people noticed that unidentified miscreants had spit on the Ambedkar statue. Someone called the police, and sub-inspector S. Eshwarappa arrived at the spot.
Meeting
He convened a meeting of leaders of Dalit organisations and asked them for solutions. Later, police helped various Dalit organisations clean up the statue. A puja was performed and senior leaders of the villagers garlanded the statue. The situation is peaceful.
