KOCHI: The Jacobite Syrian Christian Church has reiterated its demand that the churches that remain closed owing to the dispute between the two factions of the Malanakara Church be reopened immediately. A meeting of the Church managing committee here recently asked the State Government to make way for allowing the Church members to offer worship at the Thrikkunnathu Seminary church on the feast of a metropolitan on January 26. The committee decided to consecrate Elias Kozhiparampath as metropolitan and to form the Kozhikode diocese. It also decided to seek permission from the Patriarch of the Church to consecrate bishops for Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and to revive the diocese of Idukki. The St. Athanasius Cathedral being built now at the Patriarchal centre near here would be consecrated on December 26.
