BSNL commissions cell tower

Staff Reporter

To strengthen signals for customers at Petmanagaram

Tuticorin : The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has commissioned a cell tower at Petmanagaram near here.

Official sources said on Monday that the new tower would strengthen the signals for the customers at Petmanagaram and the nearby hamlets.

The BSNL had slashed the prices of Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) modem meant for the broadband connections.

The modems were now available at Rs.1,200 for ADSL (normal) type and Rs.1,800 for ADSL (wireless facility) type. Earlier, ADSL (normal) cost Rs.1,500 and the other type cost Rs.2,000.

The BSNL had opened an accident relief service in the district to give first aid and urgent medical attention to the needy.

The service could be availed by dialling `1073', so that ambulance would rush to the accident spot to take the injured to hospital.

The customers could access `1073' from the BSNL landline as well as the cell phone.

Customers who got their telephone connections disconnected, owing to non-payment of bills could now get the connections immediately restored on making the outstanding payment.

The customers whose telephone connections were disconnected permanently too could get their phones reconnected by paying their outstanding bills.

However, legal action would be taken against the defaulters, if they were not paying their outstanding.

The BSNL would conduct an open house session at Kayalpattinam on December 22 to get feedback from customers on the services rendered by the organisation.

The customers were requested to take part in the session, to provide valuable suggestions to improve the BSNL services, the sources said.
