He was absent at the KDP meeting

  • Action sought against the official for dereliction of duty
  • DHO urged to fill up posts at district hospitals

MADIKERI: The Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting held here on Monday took note of the absence of the assistant director of the Fisheries Department and decided to issue him a show-cause notice.

It was also decided that a complaint would be made before the Human Rights Commission regarding the lacklustre attitude of forest officials towards forming village committees as suggested by the Bhuria Commission.

When the chairman of the Standing Committee sought a reply from the authorities on the action taken with regard to the implementation of programmes in Fisheries Department, there was no representative from the Department to respond. The members of the zilla panchayat then urged their chief executive officer to issue a show-cause notice to the assistant director for dereliction of duty.

The members sought a reply from the authorities on the losses incurred by pepper growers in the area. The assistant director of horticulture said that 3,271 farmers had incurred losses to the tune of 17.29 crore and a report in this regard had been submitted to the Government.

When chairman of the Standing Committee Achaiah complained that ginger growers had complained about the low quality of seeds provided, the chief executive officer directed the officials to supply local seeds.

Shashidhar, a member, urged the District Health Officer (DHO) to fill up the posts at hospitals in the district as the people were not getting proper services. President of the zilla panchayat Ashok replied that it had been decided to take a delegation to the Chief Minister to urge him to take necessary steps to fill up the posts.
