Ex-servicemen colonies in the offing: Minister

Haryana Governor to honour war widows

Chandigarh: Haryana Governor A R Kidwai will honour the war widows and gallantry awardees at the Vijay Diwas function to be held on December 15 at Rewari, sources said.

``Vijay Diwas is being organised in memory of the historic victory of the Indian Army in the 1971 Indo-Pak war,'' Capt Ajay Singh Yadav, Revenue and Irrigation Minister, said.

He said the Government had provided a number of facilities to the freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and their dependents.

``Haryana Urban Development Authority had decided to develop defence colonies at Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar and Jind exclusively for the ex-servicemen and other serving defence personnel'' Mr. Singh added. He also said the cooperative societies for ex-servicemen were being formed. ``The foundation stone for construction of the war museum at Rewari has already been laid and a sum of Rs 20 lakh has been released for the construction of this museum.'' he said.

Under the aegis of the Sainik Parivar Bhavans, one year diploma courses were also being run at Chhachhrauli in Yamunanagar district, Panchkula, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Jind and Hisar, he said. -- PTI
