8 lakh patients treated at health camps

JAIPUR: Over 8.14-lakh patients have been treated so far at special health care camps organised in 2,643 village panchayat areas across Rajasthan as part of a month-long Swasthya Chetana Yatra. Of these, 3.12 lakhs were treated through the alternative therapies of Ayurveda, Unani and homoeopathy.

State Medical and Health Minister Digambar Singh said here on Monday that 2,692 patients in a serious condition were referred to hospitals for specialised treatment, while 6,900 were operated upon and pathology tests were conducted on 80,000 patients.

Dr. Singh said as many as 1.23-lakh patients were treated for general diseases, while 38,000 were treated for skin diseases, 35,000 for ear, nose and throat ailments, 18,500 for dentistry, 15,700 for orthopaedic diseases and 3,584 for mental disorders.

The Minister said 45,720 children were treated in the camps under the Child Health Programme and thousands of children were vaccinated. Over 19,000 pregnant women were registered under the Janani Suraksha Yojana and an assistance of Rs. 58.09 lakhs was disbursed to them. The Swasthya Chetana Yatra was launched in the State on December 1 for generating awareness on the health-related issues. Chariots carrying messages about various health schemes are travelling to remote areas as part of the yatra.
