WARANGAL: Tribal youths in the agency areas who feel neglected have been extended a helping hand by the police in the district.

For scores of tribal youths, who have been waiting for a job opportunity, the special recruitment drive by the police has come as a gift. The department has decided to recruit 900 constables, mainly for the proposed 15th APSP Battalion.

More than 1,100 candidates from different corners of the district are aspiring for jobs in the Police Department. Since the eligibility is only a pass in Class nine, more candidates have applied to test their luck. However, they are completely unaware of the process and the method to prepare for the test.

Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra giving a thought to the problem has directed the officials to conduct a pre-recruitment training for these tribals at various places in the district. Accordingly, in Kothaguda forest area, the police conducted a pre-recruitment camp from November 23 to December 3 for 96 tribal youth.

With 1,145 candidates securing eligibility for the physical efficiency test scheduled to be held from December 18 to 21, the district police are running pre-recruitment training camps at Kothaguda and Gudur for 240 candidates; at Tadvai agency area for 145 candidates; Pasra police training 114 candidates for the recruitment test and at Narasampet, the police were training 34 tribal youth for the APSP 15th Battalion constable recruitment test.

Lack of guidance

Speaking to The Hindu , SP Soumya Mishra said unlike in the urban areas, these tribal youth lack proper guidance and coaching centres. "We decided to help them. Employment opportunities are becoming rare.

Once these youth secure a job, they are settled for a lifetime. They badly require a little help which we are extending," she added.
