dated December 13, 1956: Sri Prakasa's hope

Mr. Sri Prakasa, Governor of Bombay, addressing pressmen at the Raj Bhavan on December 12, expressed the hope that the experiment of the bigger bilingual State of Bombay would succeed, so that other States might also like to join together and form into bigger ones. He deprecated the fissiparous tendencies in the country and said it was good to have States in which more than one language was spoken. Mr. Sri Prakasa stressed the importance of English and said that it was one of the most powerful languages in the country.
