LUCKNOW: Tragedy struck seven pilgrims from Kerala when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident near Shahjahanpur village under the Shakti police station area in Kanpur Dehat on Monday. While three persons lost three lives, two of them on the spot, four others were admitted to hospital. The condition of two admitted to the Hallet Hospital in Kanpur was stated to be critical, a Home Department spokesman said. Two others have been admitted to the primary health centre, Sikandra in Kanpur Dehat district. The victims, belonging to Ernakulam district in Kerala, were returning from ziarat (pilgrimage) of Ajmer Sharif when their vehicle collided with a truck. The deceased have been identified as K.K. Aliar , Thangal and Hameed. While Aliar and Thangal died on the spot, Hameed died in the hospital. They belonged to Merpail, Mahutura taluk in Ernakulam district. Kanpur Dehat SP Mohit Agarwal told The Hindu that the around 5 a.m on Monday the vehicle carrying the pilgrims collided with a truck laden with construction materials. The driver of the speeding truck escaped.
