All-India general strike: rural banks, insurance employees to take part

Protest on December 14 against `anti-employee' policies of Government

HYDERABAD: Members of the Andhra Pradesh Regional Rural Bank Employees' Association and the All-India Insurance Employees' Association will join the all-India general strike called by the Central trade unions on December 14 to protest the `anti-employee' policies of the Government.

S. Venkateswar Reddy, general secretary, Rural Bank Employees' Association, said in a statement issued here on Tuesday that over 5,500 officers and employees working in about 1,200 branches of five RRBs operating in the State would join the strike.

K. Venugopal, general secretary, Insurance Employees' Association, said those working in both LIC and general insurance companies would participate in the strike on the 16-point charter of demands.
