GULBARGA: B.R. Patil, MLA who has been suspended from the Janata Dal (Secular) and a close associate of the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, said on Tuesday that he and other MLAs supporting Mr. Siddaramaiah were ready to quit and face byelection. Mr. Patil told presspersons that he had suggested to Mr. Siddaramaiah when he decided to resign his membership from the Assembly that all the MLAs supporting him should resign and face the byelection together. But Mr. Siddaramaiah had asked them not to resign from the Assembly. Mr. Patil said he would abide by the decisions taken by Mr. Siddaramaiah in this connection. On the suspension of the former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia from the Janata Dal (S), Mr. Patil asked "who is left now in the party".
`JDl (Suspended)'
Almost all MLAs had been suspended from the party. "We can safely change the nomenclature of the party as Janata Dal (Suspended)". First it was 39 MLAs who were suspended from the party by the party president H.D. Deve Gowda for joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and forming the Government under the leadership of H.D. Kumaraswamy and later Mr. Siddaramaiah and his supporting MLAs were suspended.
Mr. Patil demanded the State Government to ban all forms of lottery business, including the Karnataka State Lottery. Mr Patil said online lottery was ruining thousands of poor families.
