BIJAPUR: Amid allegations of carelessness on the part of municipal administration, a worker died and another fell seriously ill in a drainage chamber near Tipu Sultan Circle here on Tuesday. The names of the dead and the injured were give as Kumar Kasbe and Ravindra Pilani respectively. Both hailed from Pune in Maharashtra. The incident occurred when they were cleaning the chamber. There were two versions about the cause of death. Some eyewitnesses said the death came as the worker touched livewire inside the chamber. The authorities said the lack of oxygen in the chamber caused the death of the worker. The injured has been admitted to a hospital. Vehicular traffic on the road came to standstill for several hours. The injured had been admitted to civil hospital here. Municipal Commissioner L. Sonnegowda visited the spot.
