Madurai: Latha Mathavan Polytechnic College (Kidaripatti) beat Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College (Sivakasi) 19-7 in the Madurai Divisional inter-polytechnic college's handball tournament organised by Tamil Nadu Polytechnic College here on Tuesday. By winning the last match of the four-team league, LMPC clinched the title. LMPC emerged winner with an all-win record in the league and AGPC finished runner-up. The results (league): LMPC bt AGPC 19-7; bt Vellaichamy Nadar, 10-3; bt Tamil Nadu Polytechnic 20-2. Arasan Ganesan bt Vellaichamy Nadar 10-3; Arasan Ganesan bt Tamil Nadu 12-4; Vellaichamy Nadar bt Tamil Nadu 8-2.
Annamalai in final
In cricket, defending champion, Annamalai Polytechnic (Karaikudi) entered the final defeating host Tamil Nadu by 19 runs at Madurai on Tuesday. The scores (semifinals): Annamalai 127 for seven in 20 overs (Venkatasubramanian 48) bt Tamil Nadu 108 for nine in 20 overs (A. Senthil four for 15). Quarter finals: MAVMM (Alagarkovil) 80 in 15 overs lost to Annamalai 82 for four in 13 overs Alagappa 118 in 20 overs (Arul 42) bt Vellaichamy Nadar 96 for seven in 20 overs. Sports Correspondent
