FAPS bags two titles

BANGALORE: Frank Anthony Public School won both the girls' under-14 and under-16 team titles in the Ramesh Padukone Memorial inter-school badminton championship that concluded at the Prakash courts here on Tuesday.

The results (all finals): Boys: Under-10: Chinmaya Vidyalaya bt MES Kishore Kendra 2-0. Under-12: YES bt MES Kishore Kendra 2-0. Under-14: MES Kishore Kendra bt Sri Kumaran's PS 2-0. Under-16: St. Joseph's BHS bt Sri Vidyamandir 2-0.

Girls: Under-12: Clunny Convent bt Vidyashilp Academy 2-0. Under-14: Frank Anthony PS bt YES 2-0. Under-16: Frank Anthony PS bt YES 2-0.

New Horizon advances

New Horizon and Nirmala Rani entered the girls' semifinals in the Rotary Bangalore (Indiranagar) inter-school basketball tournament. At the IBBC courts here on Tuesday, both New Horizon and Nirmala Rani posted easy 22-02 and 31-4 victories over Jain International and Kensri School, respectively.

In the boys' section, Frank Anthony Public School (FAPS), Kensri and JIRS all entered the quarterfinals.

The results: Boys: Kensri 37 (Neeraj 15) bt CMR National 22 (Karthik 12) (Ht: 14-18); FAPS 30 (Abhishek 16) bt Cauvery HS 29 (M. Deepak 23) (Ht: 18-16); JIRS 28 (Tushar 12) bt Poorna Pragnya (Widia) 17 (Ht: 13-5).

Girls (All quarterfinals): New Horizon 22 (Brinda 12) bt JIRS 02 (Ht: 16-2); Nirmala Rani 31 (B. Divya 17) bt Kensri 04 (Ht: 21-0); Cluny w/o Indiranagar HS; Poorna Prajna (Indiranagar) w/o Bishop Cottons.

MAIS in semifinals

Mallya Aditi Internaitonal School entered the semifinals of the Columbia Asia inter-school football tournament with a 1-0 victory over Poorna Prajna Education Centre, Yelahanka here. The other teams to make the last four round were Parikrama, Kendriya Vidyalaya (Jalahalli) and Kendriya Vidyalaya (Hebbal).

The results: MAIS bt PPEC, Yelahanka 1-0; Parikrama bt Vidyashilp Academy 3-0; KVS, Jalhalli bt KV, IISc 1-0; KV, Hebbal bt ITI Vidyamandir 4-0.

RTC volleyball

The all India inter-State road transport corporation floodlight volleyball tournament organised by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will be held at the Hombe Gowda grounds, Wilson Garden, from December 13 to 15.
