BELLARY: The monthly meeting to review the progress of implementation of various schemes under the Karnataka Development Programme held here on Monday, decided not to entrust any work to Karnataka Land Army Corporation in future. Bellary Zilla Panchayat president Durgamma was presided over the meeting. The decision came in the wake of the failure of Land Army to complete work on schedule. Apart from the works already entrusted to it, no new work would be given to it, the meeting decided. Taluk panchayats executive officers were asked to review the survey of crop insurance and initiate steps to hold grama sabhas before December 23. They were asked to submit a report on implementation of Kannada in administration on priority in the wake of visit of Kannada Development Authority chairman this month end. The meeting insisted that resurvey of poor families should be conducted as per the government's order to set right the anomalies in the distribution of ration cards. The meeting wanted the officials to take up work under the "Kugrama-Swagrama" scheme for which Rs. 1 crore had been released for the district. As of now, works estimated at Rs. 48 lakh had been taken up and the remaining works had to be taken up and executed. The meeting directed the officials to identify the beneficiaries for the Ganga Kalayan scheme under the Dr. Ambedkar and Devaraj Urs Development Corporation.
