Malai Mandir celebrations

NEW DELHI: Renowned Vedic pandits performed Maha Rudram and Rudra Maha Yagnam at the Sree Swaminatha Swami Seva Samaj (Malai Mandir) here over the weekend as part of religious festivities in the Tamil month of Karthigai for the welfare of the community and the country. Hundreds of devotees witnessed the Sankhabhishekam performed to the deities on Monday.

DTC service restored

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Transport Corporation has announced restoration of service on Route 177 that had earlier been discontinued.

A DTC release said that for the convenience of commuters the new route would be operated between Mori Gate Terminal and Katewra via Clock Tower, Bada Bagh, GTK Depot, Shahbad Daulatpur, Prahladpur, Pooth Khurd, Bawana, Auchandi Village and Mungeshpur.

Scholar badge ceremony

NEW DELHI: Delhi Public School Indirapuram honoured its students for excellence in education at a scholar badge ceremony this past week. Nearly 100 students from Class VII to IX were honoured.

Principal Meeta Rai said it was the first time that scholar blazers were also awarded to students who had been awarded the scholar badge for three consecutive years.

Seasonal Affective Disorder

NEW DELHI: People who feel lethargic in cold weather and crave for certain kinds of food may be suffering from winter depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), according to Heart Care Foundation of India president K. K. Aggarwal.

Participating in a discussion here on Tuesday, he said SAD is a very common phenomenon. "Such people should expose themselves to sunlight for long durations. It is a serious disorder and occurs due to lack of serotonin,'' said Dr. Aggarwal.

IDBI staff to go on strike from today

NEW DELHI: To demand implementation of wage revision settlement agreed upon on March 17 this year, employees of the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) will go on a two-day nationwide strike beginning Wednesday.

The employees, who have been agitating since July this year, have alleged that the management of the bank was not executing the settlement owing to "pressures from the Union Finance Ministry''.
