JAIPUR: The Congress has demanded a CBI enquiry into mining activities going on in Deeg and Kaman tehsils of Bharatpur. The party has also sought action against Forests and Mines Minister Laxminarain Dave for his alleged support to the "mining lobby" in the area. PCC spokesperson Param Navdeep Singh in a statement here charged that the Rajasthan Government was trying to suppress the movement against mining in the sacred Braj area spearheaded by sadhus. The police were trying to file false cases against the sadhus and their disciples at the behest of the mine owners, she charged. Accusing Mr. Dave of extending full support to the "mining mafia", Dr. Param said the Government, peeved at public support to the agitation by the sadhus, had introduced some "fake" holy men in the area to undermine the agitation for protection of the sacred hills on the "parikrama" route. "The real sadhus are even stopped from entering Bolkheda village in Kaman tehsil from where they were removed forcibly last week," she charged. A case was not so far registered on the attack on the journalists who had gone from Jaipur last week to cover the agitation in Kaman village, Dr. Param charged. "The media as well as the sadhus have been ill-treated by the Government which is essentially unmindful of the religious sentiments of the people," she charged.
