Young man arrested for threatening MPs

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A young man who allegedly threatened two Members of Parliament by posing as a dreaded dacoit has been arrested at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. He is being brought to Delhi.

In November, the Connaught Place police received a complaint that Ashok Argal, the BJP member of the Lok Sabha from Morena in Madhya Pradesh, had received a threat call from a person identifying himself as Jagjivan Parihar, a dreaded dacoit of Chambal.

The culprit threatened to kill Mr. Argal and his children, and even made a threat call to his brother at his Morena residence. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to his involvement. He told the police that he made the threat calls for fun and to get media attention. Investigations revealed that Gajraj had allegedly bought four mobile phone SIM-cards from the shop owned by one of his relatives. He used one of the SIM-cards to allegedly make threat calls to Mr. Argal and also to Ram Lakhan, MP from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh.
