NEW DELHI: Alleging rampant corruption in sanctioning of building plans for industries, commercial complexes, motels and farmhouses, the Leader of the Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Subhash Arya, and MCD Standing Committee member Vijender Gupta on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into all the building plans sanctioned or rejected during the past three years.
At a press conference, Mr. Arya said though building plans of smaller plots having an area of 50, 100 or 150 sq.m were being sanctioned at the MCD zonal offices those of larger plots having area of more than 400 sq. m were being taken up at the MCD Building Department headquarters in Town Hall, putting a question mark over
Site inspections
"The municipal officials are carrying out site inspections for smaller plots and the building plans are being rejected after imposing several conditions but, on the other hand, the building plans for larger plots are being passed without adhering to the norms," said Mr. Gupta.
"Recently the buildings for two motels to be constructed at Samalkha village have been passed flouting all norms and rules. And there are several such examples pointing towards the corrupt practices being employed by the building department officials," added Mr. Gupta.
