Baby presents Pylee award to journalist

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: Education and Cultural Affairs Minister M.A. Baby has said journalists and politicians do justice to their profession only when they worry and become concerned about others.

Mr. Baby was speaking after presenting the N.V. Pylee Endowment award to C.M. Abdurahman, former executive editor of the Deshabhimani, for his all-round contribution to journalism.

The Minister said Mr. Abdurahman had upheld ethics and values in his long career as a mediaperson.

He was an excellent translator of English-language books into Malayalam.

The award, in honour of the late N.V. Pylee, comprises Rs.5,000 and a citation. Mr. Abdurahman, who worked with the Deshabhimani newspaper for 37 years, currently lives in Kochi and occasionally writes for the Chintha magazine.

His latest work is Fidel Castro's My Early Days.

Senior Journalist K.M. Roy felicitated Mr. Abdurahman.
