MANGALORE: Manjappa Ullal, former MLA and Congress leader, died at his house at Kodikal near here on Wednesday. He was 80. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. A contemporary of leaders such as U.P. Mallya, Srinivas Mallya, Narayan Kille and Ishwar, Manjappa was involved in social work. He followed the ideology of leaders, including Kudmul Ranga Rao and Ambedkar, who championed the cause of Dalits. He was a member of the senate and syndicate of Mangalore University.
