HYDERABAD: Several students were injured when the police resorted to a lathicharge against activists of the Student Federation of India (SFI) while they were staging a demonstration here on Wednesday on the issue of scholarships. The demonstrators wanted to march to the Assembly, which is in session, but the police prevented them from doing so. This led to a mild scuffle between SFI leaders and the police finally leading to the lathicharge. Several activists sustained bleeding injuries. Earlier, thousands of students, including schoolchildren, assembled at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram. They raised slogans against the Government's indifference in solving their problems.
