NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to intervene in the debate on the India-United States nuclear cooperation deal, scheduled to take place in Parliament on December 18/19. The reply to the debate will, however, be given by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told reporters here on Wednesday that Dr. Singh had conveyed to Mr. Mukherjee his wish to intervene in the debate. Besides the debate, the last two days of the winter session, which ends on December 19, would witness a discussion on the approach to the Eleventh Plan. Mr. Dasmunsi re-confirmed that the Bill to give reservation to the backward classes in Centrally governed educational institutions would be taken up for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
