Corrections and Clarifications

A report "Pact significant, says Pranab" (December 13, 2006) incorrectly stated Pranab Mukherjee to be the Defence Minister. Pranab Mukherjee is the External Affairs Minister.

The caption of a standalone picture titled "New envoy" (December 12, 2006) was: "Fresh Assignment: Shahid Malik, Pakistan's ambassador-designate to India, arrives with his wife and son in New Delhi on Monday." The phrase "ambassador-designate" is incorrect as Commonwealth nations appoint only High Commissioners and not ambassadors.

The scoreboard listed at the end of the report "Man United, Arsenal, Porto, Lille make the cut" ("Sport", December 8, 2006) gave the last score as Anderlecht 2 (Lakis 76 Cirillo 81), AEK Athens 2 (Lakis 76 Cirillo 81). Both the teams had the same goal scorers. It was an error. While Vanden Borre and Frutos scored for Anderlecht, Lakis and Cirillo were the scorers for AEK Athens.

The infobox in the report "Indian golfers claim silver" ("Sport", December 12, 2006) stated that Ritwik Bhattacharya is to meet Saurav Ghosal in the squash pre-quarterfinal at Doha, while under the subcolumn, the impression is that both have won their pre-quarters and to meet each other in the quarters. The Sports Desk clarifies that the infobox is incorrect and that Ritwik and Saurav will meet in the quarterfinals. The infobox was only in the early editions.
