Three held with gold ornaments

KOCHI: Three persons along with the driver of a car they were travelling in were taken into custody on Wednesday for transporting gold ornaments without proper documents.

Those arrested were identified as Vikas Solanki, 28, Pankaj Solanki, 25, from Kala Chokli, Mumbai, and Vinesh, from Thane, Mumbai.

They were travelling from Kollam in a car owned and driven by Baby alias Varghese of Puthencruz.

They were stopped by a police patrol team at Jos Junction on Tuesday midnight and 31.775 kg of gold ornaments, worth around Rs.3.5 crore, were recovered.

They were handed over to the Sales Tax Intelligence team and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and the Income Tax Department were also alerted.
