Puducherry
Special Correspondent
Puducherry: Secretary of the Puducherry State unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam A. Anbalagan has welcomed the decision of the six legislators of Karaikal (who include an AIADMK member also) to boycott the winter session of Assembly scheduled for December 15. He told newspersons here on Wednesday that the legislators should not, however, take back their decision although Speaker R. Radhakrishnan had invited them for a joint meeting at his chamber on December 14 in a bid to dissuade them from boycotting the session. Mr. Anbalagan said the legislators were justified in their contention that Karaikal was neglected for years together. Youth seeking jobs were left in the cold. Development of the district was neglected with the Congress government showing step-motherly treatment. He said in the Yanam region a lone Assembly segment was, however, making stupendous progress. This exposed the Congress' partisan attitude and lack of vision for even progress of all the four regions. Mr. Anbalagan also appealed to the Speaker to ensure that the Assembly had its winter session for at least five days instead of having the meeting just for a day, as would be the case now.
