KARIMNAGAR: Re-election of TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao from the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency on Telangana sentiment with a thumping majority has cast its shadow on the second rung leaders of all political parties, including the district TDP unit also. Telugu Desam Party SC cell state secretary and former legislator Mathangi Narsaiah has raised a banner of revolt against the party high command over the Telangana statehood issue. He has demanded the party high command to change its stand on Telangana statehood issue and also constitute separate Telangana TDP unit for its survival in the region.
Deadline
He also set a deadline to the TDP to disclose its stand within one week and threatened to resign from the party if it fails to respond positively. He also said that several senior TDP leaders from the district and other parts of the region were eagerly waiting for the party high command to disclose its stand Telangana.
Letter to Naidu
When contacted over phone, Mr. Narsaiah told The Hindu that he was planning to submit a letter to party president N. Chandrababu Naidu and ask him to change the party stand on Telangana. "I will resign to the post and the primary membership of party if it does not change its stand on Telangana state,'' he said. The Congress, BJP, TRS and CPI were for Telangana state, he said and suggested the TDP also to change its stand. He said that we should respect the sentiments of people and go accordingly. "We cannot go against the wishes and self-respect of Telangana people. If the TDP still sticks to its policy of integrated Andhra Pradesh, it would be completely faded out of the Telangana region,'' he maintained. He predicted that there would be mass resignations in TDP very soon on Telangana issue.
