Tumkur bowls out Shimoga cheaply

Bangalore: H. Suresh grabbed four wickets and helped Tumkur Zone skittle out Shimoga Zone for 99 in a KSCA inter-zonal under-13 cricket tournament semifinal that commenced here on Wednesday.

At close, Tumkur scored 112 for seven in 57 overs.

The scores:

Semifinals: Shimoga Zone 99 in 52.5 overs (H. Suresh four for 23) vs. Tumkur Zone 112 for seven in 57 overs.

Mysore Zone 130 in 45.2 overs vs. President's XI 102 for three in 48 overs (Shreyas Gopal 57).

Darshan, Shashindra

hit centuries

S.S. Darshan (143 not out and four for 26) and K. Shashindra (114) powered Presidency School to a 114-run victory against Holy Saint High School in a Parle Cup inter-school under-17 cricket tournament match here on Wednesday.

Presidency posted 300 for three in 45 overs and bundled out Holy Saint for 186 in 43 overs.

The scores:

Presidency School 300 for three in 45 overs (S.S. Darshan 143 not out, K. Shashindra 114) bt Holy Saint HS 186 in 43 overs (Vikas 54, Darshan four for 26).

Sudarshan Vidyamandira 128 in 26.5 overs (V.R. Goutham 60, Sharan seven for 15) lost to Bishop Cotton Boys' School 132 in 15.3 overs (Mayank 90 not out).

BGS International Residential School 128 in 38.2 overs (K. Nitin 42, Bhim four for 17) lost to Parachute Regiment School 131 for four in 19.4 overs (Varun 70).

Basketball tournament

SportzVillage will conduct an inter-corporate basketball tournament at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore on January 6,7 and 13. For details, call Aubrey at 99804 18469 or Salim at 98456 40785.

Volleyball selection

The trials to select the Karnataka junior boys' and girls' volleyball teams will be conducted at the Sree Kanteerava outdoor courts on December 16 and 17, from 9 a.m.

The selected team will take part in the junior National championship to be held at Vijayawada from January 13 to 20. Eligible players (those born on or after 1-1-1989) may contact K. Nandakumar, General Secretary, Karnataka Volleyball Association, Room No. 2, Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, with date of birth proof.

Nirmala Rani posts win

Nirmala Rani Girls School defeated New Horizon School 31-8 in a Rotary Club inter-school basketball tournament's girls' semifinal at the IBBC Courts here on Wednesday. Divya (10) excelled for the victors. In another semifinal, PPEC Indiranagar defeated Cluny Convent 31-23.

The results: Girls: Semifinals: Nirmala Rani Girls School 31 (Divya 10, Amrutha 7) bt New Horizon 8 (Vandana 6) (ht: 21-6); PPEC, Indirangar 31 (Varsha 13, Swathi 9, Ramya 9) bt Cluny Convent 23 (Trishala 9) (ht: 15-10).

Boys: Quarterfinals: United Mission HS 42 (Lokesh 16) bt FAPS 21 (Akash 10) (ht: 16-14); Kensiri School w/o New Horizon Public School.
