Madurai: Annamalai Polytechnic College, Chettinad, retained the title in the Madurai divisional inter-polytechnic college cricket tournament defeating Sowdambiga Polytechnic College, Aruppukottai, by seven wickets in the final at Madura College ground here on Wednesday. The scores (final): Sowdambiga PTC, Aruppukottai, 113 in 23 overs lost to Annamalai PTC, Chettinad,, 114 for three in 17.5 overs (A. Karthick 48). Semifinals: Sowdambiga 123 for eight in 18 overs (M. Shanmuganathan 41) bt Alagappa PTC, Karaikudi, 115 in 17.4 overs (Muthukumar 50).
Basketball tourney
The 29th annual State-level basketball tournament, organised by the Young Stars Basketball Club, will be held at Batlagundu from January 13 to 17. Entries close on January 1.
