MCD squads seal 126 properties

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi sealed 126 commercial properties at Najafgarh here on Wednesday in compliance with Supreme Court directions to seal commercial establishments operating from the Capital's residential areas.

The MCD sealing squads carried out the sealing drive along the stretch from the Kapashera police station to Samalkha Chowk on Old National Highway-8.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan convocation

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Jawaharlal Nehru Academy of Languages held its annual convocation earlier this week. Nearly 500 students passed out from the certificate and diploma courses in French, Spanish, German, Chinese and Arabic.

The Ambassador of Ecuador, Carlos Abad, Political Counsellor in the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Sun Wei Dung, and Japanese Foundation Director Yoo Fukazawa were among the guests who addressed the students.

`Beware of tooth ache'

NEW DELHI: Pain in the teeth while walking in the case of patients above 40 years may be suggestive of underlying blockages in the heart, according to Heart Care Foundation of India president K. K. Aggarwal.

NEW DELHI: Manav Sthali School at New Rajendra Nagar is staging a musical play, "Chanakya'', at the school auditorium this coming Sunday. The play attempts to understand the strength and character of this historical figure.

A delegation of American students visiting the school under the Children's International Summer Villages Cultural Exchange Programme will also be present with their Indian host families. The Deputy Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ashok Das, will be the chief guest.

Young author contest

NEW DELHI: More than 600 students from 75 top schools participated in the Delhi city final of Classmate Young Author Contest 2006 on Wednesday. The event was organised at Kalka Public School in Alaknanda.

The competition, open to students from Class IX to XII, had students writing stories in the genres of mystery, thriller and fantasy. The finals will take place at 19 centres over the next four weeks.
