Several trade unions to join strike today

BELLARY: Trade unionists, representing various trade union organisations, including of banks, insurance, postal services and the BSNL will participate in the all-India general strike called by Left-affiliated trade unions on Thursday.

The trade unions here, under the banner of Bellary district unit of the Joint Council of Trade Unions, will be taking out processions in the city in support of the all-India bandh scheduled on Thursday.

One procession will begin from APMC and the other from the Durgamma temple and converge at Mothi Circle in the city.

The strike is to protest against the policies of the UPA Government, its failure to check the price rise, opposition to allowing foreign direct investment in insurance and banking sector, entry of MNCs and reduction in the interest rate of pension.

Government employees' associations will support the strike .
