THE BIG PARTY: `Hong Kong's Big Bang', a part of the series to be aired from this coming Monday.
NEW DELHI: Through its "Inside" series this December, National Geographic Channel is all set to take viewers into events ranging from the biggest Rolling Stones concert on the beaches of Brazil to the Chinese New Year celebrations in the crowded streets of Hong Kong. The five-day series is being premiered this coming Monday with "Inside - Rolling Stones in Rio" that will show Rolling Stones kick off Rio de Janeiro's carnival with a free concert for an estimated 1.5 million people. Viewers will get a rare peek behind the curtains to share a few intimate moments with rock legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Speaking about the series, Joy Bhattacharjya, Senior Vice-President (Programming) of National Geographic Channel India says: "Staying true to our philosophy of making our viewers rethink about the world they live in, this `Inside' series will not only bring unknown facts to life but also promises to be a fun-filled and entertaining series. For our viewers this is an all area access pass to a few of the world's most spectacular events." "Inside -- Speed Week" that will be telecast on Tuesday will focus on thousands of car travellers who make a pilgrimage to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah every year with a mission to go as fast as their wheels will allow. This episode will go into the thrill and passion behind this risk-filled event. "Inside -- Space Launch" Wednesday will focus on "the oldest and largest space facility in the world" -- Russian-run Baikonur Cosmodrome. American entrepreneur Greg Olsen has spent 20 million dollars to live out every stargazer's dream. He will become the third private citizen on the planet to hop aboard the Soyuz rocket, and journey to outer space. "Inside -- Battle of the Wines" that will be shown on Thursday will show a five-course dinner being prepared for the most distinguished palates in the world. These palates have tasted only the best foods and wines and are gathered to honour the most accomplished among them. Each year the elite of the wine trade gather in London's historic Guildhall to find out who has earned the highly coveted honour of "Wine Maker of the Year". "Inside -- Hong Kong's Big Bang" on Friday will show a large number of revellers take to the streets of Hong Kong to join one of the biggest parties in the world. For those setting it up amid the swarms of people, it's an undertaking of epic proportions. At the close of each lunar year, the streets of Hong Kong fill with tourists hungry to be entertained by some of the best party-planners in the world. As tourists, organisers and partygoers converge on Hong Kong, "Inside" captures the technology and toil of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
