It is the practice of the corporate to conduct psychometric analysis on the applicants to pick the right candidates for their requirements. This type of test was conducted on the final-year computer science, computer applications, commerce and business administration students of Enadi Rajappa Arts College at Pattukottai on Tuesday. The test was conducted by Vijetha Academy, a Tiruchi-based skill enabling and outsourcing centre. The corporate is in need of hands with analytical skills. Vijetha Academy is providing training to interested students before they complete their graduation. They will be given free placement assistance. The Department of MBA of Thanthai Hans Roever College, Perambalur, organised a special lecture programme recently. K. Ganesan, Deputy General Manager, Quality Assurance, BHEL, Tiruchi, who spoke on the topic `marketing strategies', emphasised the importance of marketing mix such as product, place, price and promotion. New dimensions like service, value for money have also crept in along with the 4 Ps. He explained the initiatives taken by many new companies in popularising their product amidst serious competition. He also spoke on the existing pricing strategy and the policy adopted by the well established concerns in this regard. The Principal, R. Valluvan, the Director of the college, N. Durairaj and the Head of the MBA Department, N. S. Shibu spoke.
J.J Institute of Hotel Management, Pudukottai, conducted a lecture session on `Guest relationship in hotel industry' recently. The Deputy General Manager, Breeze Hotels, P. D. Vincent was the resource person. He spoke on the importance of hospitality management in hotel industry. The Head of the Department, S. Shankar was also present. The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Housing Development Corporation (THADCO) sponsored 50 students to undergo a year-long crash course in nursing at the J. J. Institute of Nursing, Pudukottai. The lamp lighting ceremony for the students of the third batch was held recently. The Collector S. J. Chiru inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. All the 50 trainees followed, each lighting her own lamp, as a token indicating her dedication to the cause of the deceased and the suffering. The vice-principal of the institute, R. Janaki, administered the pledge. The Principal, J. Parasuraman, recalled the services rendered by Florence Nightingale during the Crimean war. The Managing Trustee, Kavitha Subramanian, in her keynote address exhorted the trainees to develop self-confidence, faith in god and the courage to do right things at all time. The district manager, THADCO, Shenbagavalli, explained the proposals of the THADCO to diversify its training programmes.
