Project to provide amenities to Chamarajanagar

KUIDFC to implement the Rs. 38.38-crore project


  • Water, sanitation and drainage to be provided in first phase
  • Roads and lakes to be developed in second phase

    Chamarajanagar: Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president and Chamarajanagar MLA Vatal Nagaraj has said that the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) will implement a project to provide basic amenities to Chamarajanagar with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

    Presiding over a workshop organised by the KUIDFC and the North Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Project (NKUIDP) here on Wednesday, he said basic amenities would be provided to 25 district centres in the State. He said the project would be implemented in Chamarajanagar at an estimated cost of Rs. 38.38 crore.

    Managing Director of NKUDIP Patil said basic amenities, including water, sanitation and drainage, would be provided in the first phase. During the second phase, roads and fire station would be provided and lakes would be developed.

    He said Rs. 19.20 crore would be spent on the underground drainage system, Rs. 3.56 crore on the water supply network, Rs. 85 lakh on storm water drains, Rs. 3.81 crore on slum development, Rs. 4.22 crore on non-municipal infrastructure and Rs. 1.80 crore on roads.

    He said though the ADB would give financial assistance, the Union Government would sanction 70 per cent of the funds to the State Government as loan and the rest as grant.

    Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, municipality president and members, and officials from the KUIDFC and the NKUIDP were present.
