Humpy, Harikrishna reign supreme

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Andhra's best known faces in the world of chess - Koneru Humpy and Pentyala Harikrishna - have done India proud in the company of Krishnan Sasikiran as they clinched the team gold in chess in the Doha Asian Games late on Wednesday night. For the record, the team gold is assured and will be officially declared only after the final, inconsequential round on Thursday. The pride and honour of representing the country along with hundreds of athletes giving off their best for the motherland is a unique experience," says the World No.2 Koneru Humpy. For his part Harikrishna is content at playing a secondary role, literally, even while expressing satisfaction of being a member of the gold-medal winning squad.
