HYDERABAD: The MCH has invited private parties to take up construction of 14 more foot overbridges (FOBs), traffic signals upgradation, modern street lighting, directional boards, etc., under the public-private partnership. Also on offer are 100 advertisement boards on traffic signals on existing poles, maintenance of 10 signals, 11 uni-poles, installation of silent zone and no-horn boards at 318 school and hospital spots, signages and hoardings on flyovers, etc All these projects are to be put up for auction during the fourth open-bid-cum-auction under the `Fund Your City' (FYC) campaign to be held in the corporation head office on December 23 from 3 p.m. onwards. Announcing the details on Wednesday, Mayor T. Krishna Reddy, Commissioner Sanjay Jaju and Additional Commissioner (Traffic & Transportation) N.V.S. Reddy told mediapersons that FOBs, which were a long-felt need for the city, became a reality due to FYC. The MCH had garnered an unprecedented Rs. 21-crore from it and together with regular advertisement income, the figure touched Rs. 42 crores, the highest for any corporation in the country. All the new FOBs will have indigenous designs to bring down the costs and contractual agreements for the first phase is to be signed shortly. Begumpet FOB will have a security outpost with an ATM centre and a fountain. Kiosks were put on hold there because of objection from the Hyderabad Public School. Cases where the BOT developer had incurred extra cost due to change in FOB designs would be sympathetically considered and contract time frame will be suitably increased, said Mr. Jaju. Four FOBs were built during the first phase of auction last year and eight more were under various stages of construction. Raj Bhavan road development is up for grabs for erection of railing besides a 10-ft footpath, street furniture and garden lights. Modern lighting is planned from HPS (B) to Anand theatre, KBR Park to Jubilee check post and Himayatnagar.
