BJP lashes out at the Left
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Left parties should make up their mind whether to oppose the Government or to support it, the Bharatiya Janata Party said here on Thursday.
Commenting on the all-India general strike called by trade unions of the communist parties, BJP spokesperson V.K. Malhotra said that outside Parliament, the Left was raising slogans describing the United Progressive Alliance as an anti-people and anti-worker Government, and yet it "meekly" supported the very same Government inside Parliament.
Second general strike
It was the second general strike called by the Left trade unions in the two-and-a-half year period of the UPA, he pointed out.
He said even other supporting parties such as the Samajwadi Party had joined the Left in criticising the Government as anti-worker, thus "reducing the UPA to a minority." He said, "The UPA has no right to continue in office."
