ANANTAPUR: The district police and the Transport Department will conduct a special drive from December 15 to 24 to create awareness among vehicle and road users on road accidents to prevent fatalities. In a video conference conducted by Principal Secretary of Transport A.K. Tigidi on road accidents and fatalities on Wednesday District Collector D. Kadmiel, Additional SP S. Seshagiri Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Transport Altaf Hussain, Regional Transport Officer of Hindupur K.R. Narasimha Reddy and several motor vehicle inspectors of the district participated. Explaining about the special drive, the additional SP stated that three teams of police and transport officials would be formed to create awareness, particularly on the national highways. They would focus on overspeed of vehicle drivers, overloading of goods transport vehicles, overloading of passenger transport vehicles like autos, jeeps and vans, drunken driving, and other violations of traffic and road safety rules.
