New Wage Board demanded

NEW DELHI: Journalists and non-journalists staged a demonstration in front of the Union Labour Ministry here on Thursday demanding immediate constitution of a new Wage Board. The demonstrators also urged the Ministry to prevent a takeover of UNI news agency.

The rally was organised by the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees' Organisations as part of the nationwide protest by trade unions. Members of the Delhi Union of Journalists joined in the protest.

Park inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri inaugurated a park at Rajapur in the Capital's Rohini area on Thursday. Dedicating the newly developed park to the residents, he urged the residents' welfare association to take the responsibility for maintaining the park.

Rohini Municipal Councillor Vijender Kumar Gupta was among those present on the occasion.

Annual day

NEW DELHI: Children presented a cultural programme at the 21st Annual Day celebration of Colonel Satsangi's Kiran Memorial Public School at Chhattarpur here earlier this week.

Home Guards Director-General Neeraj Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion. Principal Shakuntala S. Jaiman presented the annual report focusing on the students' achievements.

Seminar on finance

NEW DELHI: A two-day seminar on "Access to Finance'' was organised by the National Savings Institute (NSI) here earlier this week.

Union Finance Ministry Joint Secretary (Budget) L.M. Vas inaugurating the seminar said access to finance was an essential driver for economic growth in a developing economy for it empowered the people and gave them opportunities to save and invest.
