20 held on gambling charge

VIJAYAWADA : The Anti-Goonda Squad (AGS) arrested seven persons including a woman on the charge of playing cards in Bhavanipuram on Thursday. The arrest was made when the persons were allegedly playing cards at a building near a lorry stand there. The police seized Rs. 20,100 from the arrested persons, who were using the money to play cards.

In another raid, the AGS squad arrested 13 persons for allegedly playing cards in a mango orchard between Kothur and Tadepalli. They seized Rs. 3.8 lakhs from the spot. AGS inspector Raja Rao and SI Naga Raju and others participated in the raids.

The arrested persons were handed over to One and Two Town police stations.
