Road re-named after Pilot

Staff Reporter

He was a man of unique bravery and faith, says Sheila

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday unveiled a plaque in honour of the late Congress leader Rajesh Pilot at the Janpath-Aurangzeb Road junction here. Earlier, the 625 metres long road starting from the Aurangzeb Road roundabout to Max Mueller Marg was called South End Road.

Unveiling the plaque, Ms. Diskhit said: "Rajesh Pilot was a man of unique bravery and faith. Though the decision of re-naming the road has taken a long time, it will leave everlasting memories in the mind of every passer-by."

While Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken described Mr. Pilot as a "role model" for the younger generation, New Delhi Municipal Council Chairperson Sindhushree Khullar said the re-naming of the road was a "befitting tribute to the great son of India."

Among those present were MPs Rahul Gandhi and Sachin Pilot.
