NEW DELHI: Moraad Ali Khan, on a comeback, brought into play his vast experience as he won the double trap event in the National shotgun championships at the Karni Singh ranges at Tughlakabad on Friday. With strong winds blowing right across the range, the `birds' were flying all over, but Moraad made the necessary adjustments well in advance to go into the final with a five-point lead over Ronjan Sodhi, who was part of the Asiad silver-winning team in Doha. Moraad had 139 in the qualifying competition despite a below-par 43 in the third round and eventually tallied 185 with a 46 in the final. Sodhi matched Moraad in the final but the leeway in the preliminary was too tough to bridge under the conditions. Vikram Bhatnagar, also just returned from Doha, took the third place with a 168. This was the fourth double trap title for Moraad in the National and his seventh overall including the trap event. The results: Double trap: Men: 1. Moraad Ali Khan (UP) (139, 46) 185; 2. Ronjan Sodhi (Pun) (134, 46) 180; 3. Vikram Bhatnagar (Del) (128, 40) 168. Team: 1. Uttar Pradesh (Moraad Ali Khan 139, Anant Shivam Pratap Singh 112, Naved Hussain Khan 104) 355; 2.
