South Korea bags gold

DOHA : In an absorbing duel that contained every ingredient of a gold medal fight, South Korea recovered from an early shock to stamp a 3-1 victory over China to retain the title here on Thursday night. Both qualified for the 2008 Olympics.

Pace was the essence of the match in which both the teams excelled. The Koreans showed greater control than the Chinese, who surged ahead with a penalty corner goal by Yubo Na.

The result (final): Korea 3 (Yoon Sung Hoon, Yew Woon Koon 2) bt China 1 ( Yubo Na) HT 2-1.

Final placings: 1. Korea, 2. China, 3. Pakistan, 4. Japan, 5. India, 6. Malaysia, 7. Bangladesh, 8. Chinese Taipei, 9. Hong Kong, 10. Oman.
