SHIMOGA: Minister for Water Resources K.S. Eshwarappa on Friday felicitated students of the Sharadadevi Andhara Vikasa Kendra, a residential school for the visually challenged children, who won gold and silver medals in the recently held 15th national sports meet for the handicapped in Delhi. The sports meet was jointly organised by the Indian Blind Sports Association and the Blind Relief Association. Complimenting the children on their achievement at the national-level sports meet, Mr. Eshwarappa promised that the Government would extend its help for the development of a spacious sports ground by the school. The students of the school A.V. Rudresh, won the silver medal in the long jump and the silver medal in the discus throw event, Radhabai won the gold medal in the javelin throw event and the silver medal in the long jump, K. Ashwini won the gold medal in the 100 metre run and the bronze medal in the 200 metre run. E.V. Arunkumar won the silver medals in the discus throw and javelin throw events while Yograj won the silver medal in the javelin throw event. K. Shanta who won the gold medals in the 100 mt, 200 mt and the long jump events emerged as the individual champion in the girls' section.
