Hyderabad fights back

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad fought back well to bundle out Uttar Pradesh for 185 and in the second innings scored 116 for four on the second day of the three-day all-India Vijay Merchant Trophy (under-17) cricket tournament at the Gymkhana ground here on Saturday.

In another match at the NFC ground, Karnataka was off to good start scoring 193 for two in reply to Bengal's 452 for seven declared, with Suraj Sampath (96 batting, 157 balls, 15x4) in sight of a century.

Himanshu shines

At Visakhapatnam, Punjab was in strong position against Haryana thanks to Himanshu Chawla's unbeaten 154 (21x4,1x6) and fine bowling by Gunjot Singh and Siddhartha Kaul.

At Bangalore, Tejas Karia's 115 (162b, 18 x 4) and Priyank Panchal's 112 (173b, 21 x 4) helped Gujarat gain a 236-run first innings lead over Assam.

At NFC: Bengal 452 for seven decl. in 115 overs (Ipu Saha 168, Jayojit Basu 43, Hartik three for 117) vs. Karnataka 193 for two in 63 overs (Suraj Sampath 96 batting, Manish Pande 72).

At Visakhapatnam: Punjab 419 for eight decl. in 121 overs (Himanshu Chawla 154 n.o., Sharad Lamba 85, Mohit Mohindra 62, Vaibhav Narang 41, Jayanth Yadav three for 90) vs Haryana 91 in 55.4 overs (Mukul Dagar 57, Gunjot Singh four for 15, Siddhartha Kaul four for 34).

Delhi 368 in 105.4 overs (Varun Sood 73, Anurag Tyagi 67, Yogesh Nagar 64, Tejeshwi Prasad Yadav 62, P. Patel three for 22, Mayank Baranda three for 80) vs Baroda 150 in 71 overs (Shahul Solanki 67, T.P. Yadav three for 14, Anurag Tyagi three for 23).

Assam 132 in 51.4 overs and 69 for two in 25 overs vs Gujarat 368 in 100.4 overs (Tejas Karia 115, Priyank Panchal 112, Bikram Chetry four for 120).

Madhya Pradesh 144 in 86 overs vs Mumbai 298 for eight in 97 overs (Sufiyan Shaikh 67, Gaurav Jathar 54, Rohan Tendulkar 46 retd. hurt, C.P. Thate 41).
