NELLORE: The District Centre for English, English Teachers' Association and the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Centre for Arts and Humanities will celebrate R. K. Narayan's birth centenary here on Sunday at R. L. Reddy memorial town hall. In the morning session, V. R. College Vice Principal B. Bhavani Sankar will present a paper on `the element of child psychology in the writings of R. K. Narayan' and G. Padmaja on `Women characters of R. K. Narayan with special reference to The Dark Room'. Later, a panel discussion on `Childhood is not blooming but weltering in the process of learning (A theme dear to R. K. Narayan) will be held. D. K. W. College Reader in English T. Bala Tripura Sundari will present a paper on `Aspects of Communicative Teaching at Collegiate level'. P. Amarnadh singh will present a paper on `Are examinations a hindrance to quality education?' and District Centre for English Chief Tutor H. S. V. K. Ranga Rao and Staff Tutor A. V. C. S. Prabhu will present papers on `Newspapers in classrooms' and `Creative writing in classrooms' respectively. V. Srinivasa Kumar Sarma will present a paper on `Role played in teaching English' and C. Chalam Babu on `Language learning through games'. After the lunch break Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) Professor V. Prakasham will deliver a lecture on `The language of R. K. Narayan's fiction' and Dr T. Samson of CIEFL on `R. K. Narayan for the post of colonial readers'.
