CHANDIGARH: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said on Saturday that the Government had made mandatory the use of solar water heating systems in industries, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, motels, banquet halls, jail barracks, canteens, group housing societies and all residential buildings having an area of more than 500 square yards. He said this had been done to save power and meet the growing demand for power. Moreover, all government buildings, residential schools, colleges, hostels, technical institute, tourism complexes and universities would also have to use solar water heating systems. He disclosed that the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency was implementing a solar water heating programme to meet the hot water needs of industrial, domestic and commercial sector through solar energy.
