5 die in Russian air crashes

Moscow: A small plane and a helicopter crashed in separate incidents in Russia on Saturday, killing 5 persons, emergency officials said. A small Yak plane exploded in the air outside Russia's northern city of St Petersburg, killing all three people aboard, said a regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry official.

It was unclear what caused the accident the official said speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to be quoted by name. Meanwhile, a privately owned helicopter crashed outside Moscow, killing two persons, said an Emergency Situations Ministry spokeswoman. — AP
