Puducherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has called upon the youth to develop reading habit, as reading quality books would always stand them in good stead and face challenges of life. Inaugurating the 11-day 10th National Book Fair, organised by the Puducherry Cooperative Book Society at Vel Sokkanathan Thirumana Nilayam on Vallalar Salai here on Saturday, he said that the Government was according high priority for education and a good chunk of budgetary allocations had been earmarked for educational programmes.
`Use facilities'
He asked the students to utilise these facilities. He lauded the managers of the cooperative society for holding the book fairs regularly to kindle the young boys and girls, the instinct to read books. Former Education Minister K. Lakshminarayanan MLA also felicitated the organisers. M K Sayeekumari, chairperson of the society, also spoke, and its secretary Paanch Ramalingam proposed a vote of thanks. More than 85 publishers from different parts of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu are participating in the exhibition.
